Essiac Nutrition and Certificate of Analysis
Many people ask us about the essiac nutrition facts, as well as the presence of contaminants such as lead or mercury. We have a recent Certificate of Analysis conducted by a third-party lab, as well as a Nutrition Facts sheet that you can view.
Why Essiac is Taken as a Tea
Essiac is called a tea because of the fact that it is brewed. However, it isn't taken like traditional tea that you'd drink for pleasure. It is brewed in a large batch (most typically a gallon) and stored in the refrigerator.
The suggested serving size is 3 oz. at a time, which is just under 1/2 cup in liquid measure. It's best not to re-heat the tea once it's made. If you cannot drink it cold, you can leave it out for an hour or so to take it at room temperature. If you are out and about and would like to take it, you can bring your serving with you in a thermos with some ice cubes thrown to ensure that it stays chilled.
In some health food stores, you will see essiac being sold under the brand name "Flor Essence." The same eight essiac herbs are found in that formula as you'll find in ours. However, ours costs, on average, 15% of what theirs cost to use daily!
If you encounter four herb essiac, please be aware that it's an outdated formula that was modified by Rene Caisse. Rene Caisse determined through her research at the Brusch Medical Research Center from 1959 through 1967 that the eight herb tea was her final suggestion on the best essiac formula to use moving forward.
Please let us know if you have any other questions about the nutrition contents of essiac tea! We are happy to help.
