While Essiac's Origins Lie in Canada, Cambridge Massachusetts Was the Next Place to Be Known as Essiac Central

The most extensive research ever performed on Essiac Tea was conducted in Cambridge Massachusetts from 1959-1967 by Rene Caisse and Dr. Charles Brusch. Caisse's name, spelled backwards, is "Essiac." This research closely examined the properties of the original four herb formula and sought to improve upon it with the addition of four more herbs. The research produced a superior eight herb formula which is the one Rene Caisse ultimately endorsed as the best formula to use moving forward. After 1967, those in-the-know became aware that real Essiac tea always contained eight herbs.

Rene Caisse and Dr. Charles Brusch also determined that powdered herbs worked better than whole herbs due to their higher level of absorbability. Our family lived near the Brusch Medical Research Center at the time when Dr. Brusch was actively working with this formula.
